Knowing that many SUV buyers would rather have sporty on-road dynamics than off-road prowess, Acura offers the Acura RDX, a compact crossover that blends sport sedan like handling with the typical SUV traits of all-wheel drive and enhanced cargo capacity. The Acura RDX SUV is a sports luxury crossover design vehicle made to give sports car ride and high practicality.

Although the RDX is SUV, it is the sporty model that has great power and performance. On the other hand, Honda’s luxury car division, the Acura RDX dimensions, is a ‘nosey’ car, you either love the power plenum grill or you think it too much.

Originally previewed as the Acura RDX concept car, the production Acura RDX had its debut at the 2006 New York Auto Show and went on sale on August 11, 2006. A face lifted 2010 Acura RDX model went on sale in August 2009, adopting Acura’s power plenum grille seen on its sedan models; front-wheel drive was also added.

The second generation RDX was revealed on Jan. 9, 2012 in Detroit’s North American International Auto Show, and is scheduled to launch in spring 2012. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine will be replaced by a 3.5-liter V6 mated to a 6-speed automatic, the Acura RDX SH-AWD system has been replaced with a simpler Acura RDX AWD setup.

The improvement on the RDX exterior dimensions is including door, body, roof, and glass. The body of Acura RDX is covered with the rear spoiler. The Acura RDX tires and wheels are also improved such as the material of alloy and the tires that available in all seasons. The best improvement of the Acura RDX will bring you the new sensation of driving performance.

The Acura RDX is powered by a 240 horse power turbo charged i-VTEC petrol engine and clings to the road at all speeds thanks to the Acura’s “Super Handling All-Wheel Drive”. There is a cheaper entry level Acura RDX front wheel drive version where its gearbox is the compact and smooth sequential SportShift automatic, with paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The Acura RDX ride is definitely smooth thanks to exceptional balance and precision from the rear suspension with its multi link design as in the Acura sports sedans.

Other Improvements of Acura RDX

Apart from the exterior design enhancements and the 18 inch wheels the new Acura RDX has better braking, definitely less snatch to them. Internally many people have criticized the ‘plasticy’ feel in particular the faux aluminium look of the Acura RDX. Stopping is improved but the acceleration is still a little post gas pedal pressing delayed.

The Acura RDX reliability is the highest point among others; such as the sporty look, the numerous technological features, the excellent drivability from the ample power source, the safe handling and solid comfortable seating.

The Acura RDX negative perspective has an often mentioned rough ride, less than impressive fuel consumption, a laggardly turbo booster and an instrument laden dashboard that can be confusing. The Acura RDX is the second Acura vehicle to feature the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure which is designed to absorb energy from a collision.
